Hinds Track & Field Set for NJCAA Outdoor Championships in Hobbs
RAYMOND, Miss. — The Hinds Community College track and field teams are heading to the 2026 NJCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field National Championships in Hobbs, New Mexico, from May 14-16. Hosted by New Mexico Junior College, the meet features the top junior college athletes from across the country.
Throughout the season, Hinds has showcased its status as a leading program in NJCAA track and field. The men’s sprint group, including Curtis Coleman, Raheem Pinnock, and Jayval Wright, has consistently delivered top performances in the 100-meter and 200-meter events against elite competition.
On the women’s side, Caneilia Hope has been a standout sprinter, excelling in both the 100m and 200m. Morgan Bradley and Kylie Norbert have added depth in the 200m, while Queen Usunobun proved her elite status in the 400m. Madison Rhodes and Angel Cumberbatch have also contributed key performances for the Lady Eagles this season.
On the men’s middle-distance events, Deshaun Gordon and Craig Carson have kept Hinds among the top programs. Akaree Roberts has demonstrated consistency in the 800m, competing against some of the best in the nation. The hurdles squad, led by Mikenzy Hodges-Woods and Matthew Sullivan, has been relentless, with Shadane Smith, DaJarian Leonard, and Nathanael Abrahams raising the standard each meet.
Relay success has been vital for Hinds, with James Carter leading the nationally ranked 4×100-meter relay team. The Eagles aim to continue their tradition of excellence on the national stage. The full schedule of the championships can be found online.
