Millsaps Men’s Soccer Dominates MUW 8-0 in Non-Conference Match

The Millsaps men’s soccer team defeated Mississippi University for Women 8-0 on Monday night at the Roger Short Soccer Complex in Columbus, Mississippi. The Majors controlled the match from the start, finishing with 13 shots and eight on goal, while MUW managed just three shots and two on target, according to team officials.

Junior Harrison Williams, sophomores Myles Walden and Brady Bell, and freshmen Carson Dwyer, Dakota Vann, and Reid Brenner all scored for Millsaps. Junior Alden Romano and freshman Zachary Diamond each recorded assists, contributing to the team’s balanced offensive effort. Millsaps’s defense also played a key role, with junior goalkeeper Alden Davenport playing all 90 minutes and making two saves to earn the shutout.

The game’s scoring began early in the first half when Dwyer found the net with a shot into the lower-right corner, with Walden credited with the assist with 14:27 remaining in the half. Harrison Williams extended the lead with a shot into the lower center of the goal, and Brenner added a third goal with 32:29 remaining before halftime. Bell capped the first-half scoring barrage with another goal, giving Millsaps a 4-0 advantage at halftime.

In the second half, the Majors continued to apply pressure. Vann converted a penalty kick after MUW committed a foul, making it 5-0. Walden scored again in the 65th minute, and the team finished with three additional goals in the closing minutes to secure the 8-0 victory. The team’s physical play also resulted in MUW players receiving fouls, according to reports.
