Millsaps Men’s Soccer Draws USSU in Scoreless Match for Second Straight Road Game

The Millsaps College men’s soccer team played to a scoreless draw against the United States Sports University at the Fairhope Soccer Complex on Sunday. The Majors extended their unbeaten streak to two games with the clean sheet, their second straight on the road.

Junior goalkeeper Edward Steinwand recorded three saves in the match, bringing his weekend total to nine. He is the first Millsaps player since 2017 to post back-to-back shutouts. Millsaps outshot USSU 14-4 and held a 6-3 advantage in shots on goal. The team also led 12-2 in corner kicks, demonstrating offensive control.

Several players contributed to the offensive effort, including juniors Ellis Dykes and Alden Romano, sophomore Christian Lopez, and freshmen Carson Dwyer, Zachary Diamond, and Reid Brenner, all of whom recorded shots on goal. Romano fired three attempts, while Brenner, Dykes, and Lopez each had two.

Steinwand was active early, making key stops in the 12th, 26th, and 30th minutes. The first half saw Millsaps generate nine shots, with the second half favoring the Majors 5-1 in attempts. Lopez’s last shot in the 85th minute was high, sealing the scoreless draw.

Millsaps will return home Saturday for Senior Day, hosting LeTourneau University at 3 p.m. The game will feature pregame festivities, live stats, and a broadcast on FloSports.com.
