Millsaps Goalkeeper Edward Steinwand Named SAA Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week

CANTON, Ga. — Millsaps College sophomore goalkeeper Edward Steinwand has been named the Southern Athletic Association Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.

The award followed a strong start to the season, with Steinwand recording back-to-back shutouts on the road during the opening weekend. The Fellsmere, Florida, native made a total of nine saves over the two matches.

Steinwand became the first Millsaps goalkeeper since 2017 to post consecutive clean sheets. The Majors tied Pensacola Christian College 0-0 Friday, with Steinwand making six saves, then followed with three saves in another 0-0 draw at the United States Sports University on Sunday.

Millsaps will host LeTourneau University for Senior Day at 3 p.m. Saturday. The event will feature pregame festivities, and live stats along with a broadcast will be available on FloSports.com.

The college, founded in Jackson, Mississippi, in 1890, is known for academic excellence and a commitment to liberal arts education. Millsaps is recognized by several publications for its value and quality, including U.S. News & World Report and Forbes Magazine.
