Zachary’s Owl of the Week: Layla Escobedo

Layla Escobedo of Zachary’s women’s soccer team has been named Owl of the Week. Typically a field player, Escobedo was pressed into service as the team’s goalkeeper during a series of matches against Huntingdon College.

Last weekend, she made 14 saves across a pair of home-and-home games. Her performance helped Zachary secure key results in the series, according to team officials.

Escobedo is a 5-foot-7 sophomore, wearing jersey number 3. Her versatility and effort earned her recognition from the coaching staff and fans alike.
