Decatur, Ala. — William Carey and No. 13 Lindsey Wilson tied 1-1 Sunday evening at the Jack Allen Soccer Complex. The Lady Crusaders (2-1-2) scored first and held a one-goal lead at halftime before the Blue Raiders equalized in the 58th minute.
William Carey opened the scoring in the first half on a set piece. Boo Mills delivered a corner kick to the back post, where Sara Aguirre finished to give the Lady Crusaders a 1-0 lead. Both teams pressed offensively throughout the half, but no further goals were scored before halftime.
Lindsey Wilson leveled the match shortly after halftime. In the 58th minute, a scramble inside the penalty area resulted in the ball rolling to the edge of the box, where Norka Fergusson finished to make it 1-1.
Both teams continued to push for a winning goal in the remaining minutes, but neither side found the net again. The match ended in a draw. William Carey will return to action Thursday, Sept. 10, when it hosts Brewton-Parker at 5 p.m. at Danny Owens Field.
