Ole Miss Track & Field’s Akaoma Odeluga Named CSC Academic All-American

OXFORD, Miss. — Ole Miss track and field athlete Akaoma Odeluga has earned a spot on the College Sports Communicators’ Academic All-America Second Team, according to an announcement made Wednesday by CSC.

The junior from Munster, Indiana, excelled both academically and athletically during her season. She maintains a 3.95 GPA as a political science major and was recognized as the 2026 SEC Outdoor Women’s Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

On the track, Odeluga made a significant impact during the indoor season. She finished second in the shot put and fourth in the weight throw at the NCAA Championships, earning her first national points. She continued her success outdoors by winning her first SEC title in the shot put and ranking among the nation’s top in the hammer throw.

However, a preseason injury prevented her from competing at the 2026 NCAA Outdoor Championships. Odeluga has previously been honored as a USTFCCCA All-American in 2024 and 2025, and has received CSC Academic All-District honors in the past two years. She is the third Ole Miss track and field student-athlete to be named a CSC Academic All-American in the past three seasons, following Iangelo Atkinstall-Daley in 2025 and Ryann Helmers in 2024.

To qualify for the All-America team, athletes must advance to the national ballot after being selected for the CSC Academic All-District teams. CSC members then vote on the final All-America teams across NCAA and NAIA divisions.
