Ole Miss Coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin to Lead Bahamian National Women’s Basketball Team
Yolett McPhee-McCuin, head coach of Ole Miss women’s basketball, has been appointed as the senior women’s head coach for The Bahamas National Team. The Nassau native expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming competition, stating she is honored to lead the team at the FIBA Women’s AmeriCup Centrobasket Qualifier.
The tournament is scheduled for July 12-18, 2026, at the Polideportivo Alexis Argüello in Managua, Nicaragua. It features eight teams from the Central American and Caribbean Basketball Confederation, including Bahamas, Guyana, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands, and host Nicaragua.
According to FIBA, the top three teams will qualify for the 2027 FIBA Women’s AmeriCup, joining host nation El Salvador, which has already secured automatic qualification. McPhee-McCuin previously coached the Bahamian national team from 2014 to 2017, leading them to victory at the 2015 CBC Basketball Championship for women. She has also served as an assistant coach for the Bahamian men’s national team during World Cup qualifiers, making her the first woman to coach with the men’s senior team.
McPhee-McCuin’s return to the national team marks a significant milestone in her coaching career. She continues to build her reputation at Ole Miss, where the women’s basketball program has qualified for five consecutive tournaments.
