Jackson State to Host Inaugural TheeILove Intercollegiate Golf Tournament

Jackson State University will kick off its 2026-27 men’s golf season with the inaugural TheeILove Intercollegiate Golf Tournament at The Refuge Golf Course. The event begins Monday at 8:30 a.m. and continues through Tuesday.

The tournament will include 54 holes over two days, with the first two rounds on Monday and the final 18 holes on Tuesday morning. Teams from Tennessee State, Southern, LeMoyne-Owen, Prairie View A&M, Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Texas Southern, and Coppin State are scheduled to compete.

The Refuge Golf Course, designed by Roy Case and renovated in 2021 by Nathan Crace of Watermark Golf, is considered one of the top public courses in Mississippi. Built on 200 acres of wetlands, the course features lakes, creeks, and rolling greens. It underwent significant upgrades, including new TifEagle hybrid Bermuda grass greens, renovated bunkers, and improved irrigation systems.

The course’s layout includes multiple tees ranging from 4,000 to over 7,000 yards, accommodating players of all skill levels. It was named a runner-up in the 2021 Renovation of the Year by Golf Inc. magazine and has been recognized as one of the best courses in Mississippi by Golf Pass for several years.
