The Ole Miss men’s basketball team launched its Puerto Rico trip with a series of preparation activities, including practice sessions, cultural tours, and community service. The team arrived in San Juan on Aug. 2 after a three-hour flight from Nashville.
Coach Chris Beard and his players participated in their first exhibition game against Boris 2 at Reuben Rodriguez Coliseo on Aug. 4. All available players saw action, and minutes were evenly distributed, according to the team.
Prior to the game, the team held a full day of activities on Aug. 3, including a practice at JUMP Sports Development Camp, a visit to Old San Juan for a culture and food tour, and volunteering at a youth clinic in La Perla. The team also prepared for its upcoming game against the Puerto Rican Select Team.
The trip began with a team dinner at Hall’s Chophouse in Nashville on July 31, followed by a visit to Bridgestone Arena, where Coach Beard emphasized that the season starts in 95 days. The team’s schedule in Puerto Rico also includes youth clinics, a food and culture tour, and a catamaran excursion to Icacos Island.
The Ole Miss Rebels are using the trip to prepare for the 2026-27 season while engaging with the local community and experiencing Puerto Rican culture, according to team sources.
