Former Bobcat goalkeeper Callum Harley returns as Jones College assistant coach

ELLISVILLE — Callum Harley, a former standout goalkeeper for Jones College, is returning to the school’s men’s soccer program as an assistant coach for the 2026 season. The Newcastle, England, native brings more than 20 years of experience as a player and coach at elite levels, including a top Premier League club and an NAIA program.

Harley helped Jones secure its first two conference titles in program history in 2018 and 2019. He joins head coach Brendan Connolly’s staff, which he said will benefit from Harley’s extensive coaching background. “We’re excited to have Callum back at Jones,” Connolly said. “He will be a huge addition to our staff. He has been working hard the past few years with his coaching and knows exactly what it takes to be successful here.”

During his playing career at Jones, Harley posted a 26-9-2 record with 211 saves. As a freshman in 2018, he was named All-MACJC after recording 14 wins and four shutouts in 18 starts. In 2019, he finished with 12 wins, an .820 save percentage, and was named MACJC Goalkeeper of the Week four times. Harley also earned United Soccer Coaches All-South Region honors.

Harley’s most notable moment came during the 2019 MACJC championship game, where he saved two penalty kicks and scored the clinching goal in a shootout to lead Jones past Gulf Coast. After leaving Jones, Harley played at Saginaw Valley State University in 2020-21 and at William Carey University in 2022, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in health recreation and physical education, followed by a master’s in education in interscholastic administration.

Harley has also worked with Hattiesburg Futbol Club and served on the William Carey University staff for the 2023 and 2024 seasons. Most recently, he was the director of goalkeeping for Orlando City and Orlando Pride–Lake Nona. Harley replaces Dave Brown, who was recently named head coach at Colorado Northwestern Community College.
