The University of Mississippi men’s basketball team is in San Juan, Puerto Rico, participating in the Arroyo Puerto Rico Classic this week. The team will play two games against Puerto Rican Select Teams on Aug. 4 and 5, according to team social media posts.
In addition to the games, the Rebels are engaging in community outreach and cultural activities. They will host a youth clinic in La Perla and participate in a food and culture tour of Old San Juan. The trip will conclude with a catamaran tour of Icacos Island, the team said.
Team activities began Aug. 2 with travel from Nashville to San Juan. The team arrived in the evening and attended a welcome dinner hosted by Complete Sports Management. The day prior, players and staff enjoyed dinner at Hall’s Chophouse in Nashville and visited Bridgestone Arena, where coach Chris Beard reminded them that the upcoming season is only 95 days away.
On Aug. 3, the team practiced at JUMP Sports Development Camp before relaxing at the beach or pool. They also took part in a cultural tour and volunteered at a youth clinic in La Perla. The team hosted a full day of activities on Aug. 3, including practice, cultural experiences, and community service.
Ole Miss previously announced plans to participate in the Maui Invitational and scheduled games against prominent teams in the upcoming season, with the Puerto Rico trip serving as a key part of their summer preparations, according to their official schedule updates.
