Mississippi Valley State Softball Honors Senior Student-Athletes Ahead of Saturday Game
ITTA BENA, Miss. — Mississippi Valley State University’s softball program will honor its three senior student-athletes before Saturday’s 11 a.m. game against Florida A&M. The ceremony will take place prior to the first pitch at the MVSU Softball Field.
Florida A&M, with a 23-17 record and a 14-4 mark in the Southwestern Athletic Conference, will visit the Delta Devils, who enter with a 1-32 record and are 0-18 in conference play. The Rattlers lead the series 22-5, with their last meeting on March 14 in Tallahassee, Florida.
Brooke Edyvane, an outfielder from Portsmouth, England, is one of the seniors being recognized. She has appeared in six games this season, starting twice. Edyvane is pursuing a degree in Health, Physical Education and Recreation and plans to attend graduate school for a master’s in kinesiology and sports performance, aiming to become a physical therapist.
Ryleigh Ashford, a pitcher from Boyd, Texas, has made one appearance this season. She majors in general studies and hopes to earn a Bachelor of Science in nursing, with plans to work in emergency medicine. Ashford shared a humorous memory involving her insulin pump during a tournament, highlighting her resilience and sense of humor.
Jadyn Braxton, a second baseman from Birmingham, Alabama, has also played in one game this season. She is majoring in Business Administration and plans to pursue an MBA at the University of South Alabama. Braxton aspires to careers in human resources or operations management and encourages teammates to keep learning and trusting their instincts.
