Mississippi Valley State Athletics Hosts Busy Week of Cross Country, Volleyball, and Football

Mississippi Valley State University’s athletics program has a busy week ahead, with events across cross country, volleyball, and football. The Delta Devils’ cross country team opens its 2026 season Friday at the Mississippi College Opener in Clinton, Mississippi. The meet marks their first competition of the season as they gear up for the Southwestern Athletic Conference Championships, according to school officials.

On Saturday, the volleyball team returns to the R.W. Harrison HPER Complex in Itta Bena for the Mississippi Valley State Tri-Match. The Delta Devils face Southern University at New Orleans at 11 a.m. and Wiley University at 3 p.m. Fans are encouraged to attend and support the team during the home event.

The football team will play its second straight road game Saturday night, traveling to Sacramento State for a 7 p.m. kickoff. The Delta Devils aim to build on their season opener as they face the Hornets in Sacramento, California. Tickets for the 2026 football season are available through the MVSU Athletics app and online ticket platforms.
