Alex McCarter, 6’1″ 220lb New Hope LB, picks up an offer from Jackson State.
Alex McCarter picked up an offer from Jackson State after a great weekend at camp. The 6’1″ 220lb LB out of New Hope knows how to lay the wood.
He is another one of those aggressive defensive players out of the GTA. Alex is a downhill LB that can also cover ground. He isn’t a stiff guy who has to be limited to staying in the box all the time. He is good with his hips and reacts well to the ball. He also has great awareness and knows how to be in the right position.
Alex does a great job in run defense. When you watch his film you can see he has a knack for getting to the ball. He also does a great job of shedding offensive lineman when they get to the next level. He reads keys very well and doesn’t overrun plays.
Alex is also a very great tackler. He doesn’t make a lot of arm tackles. He is a guy that makes good form tackles and brings his hips when he makes contact.
“It feels great knowing that all my hard work is paying off,” said Alex. “Coming off my ACL tear this past season I’m working on getting my speed, strength, and technique back up for this upcoming season.”
McCarter missed two games last year due to an ACL injury. He hasn’t been in much action during the spring, but he will be back in full force by August. His recovery process has been going very well. Look for him to have the same energy from last year.
McCarter was at Jackson State’s camp last weekend where he gained a lot of attention. It’s clear to see that he is healing in good fashion.
“JSU camp was great,” said Alex. “I got to learn from Coach Heart and I was able to see some of the people I look up to.”
