Southern Miss Leads in Both Men’s Golf Events After Two Rounds at Badger Invitational and Goat Hill Championship

Madison, Wis. — Southern Miss opened the 2026 Badger Invitational in third place after a seven-under 277 in the first round, trailing Green Bay by three strokes. The Golden Eagles followed with a strong second round, maintaining their position, according to tournament organizers.

Jake Moffitt led Southern Miss individually, shooting a five-under 67 in the first round and a 65 in the second. His 132 total puts him in a tie for second overall. Moffitt made six birdies and an eagle, playing the par 5s in four-under for the day, and finished with a 33 on the front nine.

Benjamin Fernandez also posted a solid performance, shooting four-under 68 in the first round and currently tied for sixth. He made six birdies, including on the eighth and 17th holes, and sits tied for second in the field on par 3s. Other Southern Miss players include Franco Fernandez and Supakorn Amornchaichan, who shot 73 each, and Matthew Javier, who is tied for 51st after a 74.

Meanwhile, at the Goat Hill Individual Championship, John Markow leads after two rounds at Pleasant View Golf Course in Middleton, Wis. Markow opened with a four-under 66 and followed with a five-under 65, totaling 131 for the tournament. His performance includes an eagle and 10 birdies, placing him three strokes ahead of second-place Zach Rouleau of St. Thomas.

Grayson Davis is tied for third at 137, while Filip Sakota is tied for sixth at 139. Walker Wise improved significantly in the second round, shooting an even-par 70 after an 80 in the first round. The final round is scheduled for Monday, with the champion to be crowned after play concludes.
