Southern Miss Leads Badger Invitational as Markow Wins Goat Hill Title

Madison, Wis. — Southern Miss men’s golf holds the lead after two rounds of the 2026 Badger Invitational, with Jake Moffitt leading the individual standings, according to team officials. Meanwhile, John Markow captured the Goat Hill Individual Championship at Pleasant View Golf Course in Middleton, Wisconsin.

Markow finished with an eight-under 202 (66-65-71), five strokes ahead of teammate Grayson Davis, who finished second at three-under 207. Markow, who entered the final round with a three-stroke lead, maintained his advantage despite shooting a one-over 71 in the final round. He recorded 14 birdies and an eagle over the tournament, ranking second in birdies behind Zach Rouleau of St. Thomas, who made 15. Markow also led the field on par 4s and par 5s.

His victory follows Benjamin Fernandez’s recent individual title at the JT Poston Invitational. Davis made six birdies in the first round and shot even par in the subsequent rounds. Filip Sakota tied for fifth at one-over 211, while Walker Wise finished 25th at 17-over 227.

In the team competition, Southern Miss shot a five-under 283 in the second round to move to 12-under overall, taking the lead. Western Kentucky and South Dakota State are tied for second at 10-under, with Northern Illinois in fourth at nine-under. Host Wisconsin slid to sixth after a second-round six-over 294.

Jake Moffitt leads the individual field at nine-under 135, two strokes ahead of Wisconsin’s Joseph Gutierrez and South Dakota’s Cole Witherow. The tournament concludes Tuesday, September 29.
