Ole Miss Men’s Golf Coach Chris Malloy Named SEC Coach of the Year

OLYMPIA, Ala. — Ole Miss men’s golf coach Chris Malloy has been named Southeastern Conference Coach of the Year, the SEC announced Thursday. Malloy becomes the second coach in program history to earn the honor, joining Ernest Ross, who received it in 1982 and 1984.

Under Malloy’s leadership during the 2025-26 season, the Rebels achieved a No. 10 national ranking and secured the No. 2 seed in the NCAA Bermuda Run Regional. The team finished inside the top five nine times, including three tournament wins. The Rebels captured their second SEC Championship, their first since 1984.

Two Ole Miss players earned all-conference honors. Tom Fischer was named first-team All-SEC, and Cameron Tankersley received second-team All-SEC. Fischer, a Birmingham native, led the team with a 69.80 scoring average, four top-10 finishes, and 10 top-20s. It was Fischer’s second All-SEC selection after earning second-team honors last year.

Tankersley, a senior, secured his first collegiate win at the Invitational at the Honors Course this fall. He has a 70.63 scoring average, 20 rounds even or below par, and 16 rounds under par. Both players are ranked inside the top 55 of the World Amateur Golf Rankings and the top 20 of PGA TOUR U.

The Rebels will compete in the NCAA Regionals starting May 18 at Bermuda Run Country Club. This marks their ninth consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance and their third straight regional with a top-two seed. Ole Miss will look to advance to the NCAA Championships for the third year in a row.
