Mississippi Valley State Honors Senior Baseball Players Before Series Against Jackson State

ITTA BENA, Miss. — Mississippi Valley State University will honor its ten senior baseball players before the start of its weekend series against Jackson State. The series is scheduled for Friday through Sunday at Magnolia Field.

Jackson State enters the series with a 22-23 record overall and a 12-12 mark in the Southwestern Athletic Conference. Mississippi Valley State holds an 11-32 record and a 7-17 conference record. The Tigers lead the series history since 2012 with a 68-11 advantage, including their last win against the Delta Devils on May 4, 2025.

Among the seniors being recognized is infielder Tanner Aoki, who is listed on the 2026 preseason All-SWAC first team. Aoki has played in 41 games this season, batting .306 with a .460 on-base percentage. His career batting average is .335 over 57 games.

Other notable seniors include catcher Tom Early, who received SWAC Co-Hitter of the Week honors in April, and pitcher James Snipes, who has a career ERA of 10.18 over 66 appearances. The team will also honor outfielder Kendall Brookins, pitcher Chris Brown, and several others for their contributions on and off the field.

The series begins Friday at 6 p.m., with games scheduled for 6 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday in Itta Bena. Fans are encouraged to follow the team on social media for updates.
