Mississippi State Men’s 4x100m Relay Earns First All-American Honors Since 2009
EUGENE, Ore. — Mississippi State concluded the final day of the NCAA Outdoor Championships with six All-American honors, including five first-team selections, according to the university’s athletics department. The men’s 4×100-meter relay team finished fifth in a competitive final, crossing the line in 39.04 seconds.
The relay team comprised Nicholas Fakorede, Kibren Moore, Gabe Scott, and Sherman Hawkins Jr. This marks Mississippi State’s first scoring relay at the NCAA meet since 2009, the department said.
In individual events, Khalil Antoine made his NCAA debut, competing in both the high jump and triple jump. Antoine tied for seventh in the high jump with a personal best of 2.19 meters, which also ranks fifth in program history, according to officials.
Kevin Grubbs also competed for the first time at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, finishing ninth in the discus. He qualified for the final with a third-round mark of 61.71 meters, setting a new program record, the department said.
The meet marked the end of the men’s track and field season for Mississippi State. Manie Mevo will compete in the women’s triple jump on the second day of the meet, which streams on ESPN2, with field events available on ESPN+.
