Mississippi College women’s golf second at GSC Championship as title race tightens
Dickson, Tenn. — Mississippi College’s women’s golf team is in strong position after two rounds of the Gulf South Conference Championship at Greystone Golf Club. The Choctaws posted a combined score of 609, just two strokes behind West Florida, which leads with a 602.
Montevallo is close behind in third place with a 610, followed by Lee at 613 and Trevecca Nazarene at 624. All five of Mississippi College’s scoring players finished inside the top 20 individually, highlighting the team’s balanced effort.
Ashlynd Madden led the Choctaws with a two-round total of 151, tying for sixth place after improving by five shots in the second round with a 73. Allie Myers was close behind at 152, tied for ninth. Sofia Mendez and Sydney Moss each scored 154, tied for 15th, while Ana Quintanilla Gutierrez finished with a 157, tied for 19th.
West Florida’s Millie Thompson shares the individual lead at 145, after rounds of 70 and 75. The Argonauts built their advantage with a 290 in the first round and maintained their lead despite a higher second-round score. Trevecca Nazarene’s Mattie Goad sits second individually at 147, and Lee’s Emilia Nordström is third at 149.
Montevallo’s Francesca De Roover and Angelina Oliveri are also in contention, helping keep the Falcons within striking distance. With only eight strokes separating first and third, the final round Sunday promises an exciting finish as Mississippi College aims for its first GSC title.
