Ole Miss Hosts Charlotte in Home Opener on Saturday Night

Ole Miss will host Charlotte in its first home game of the 2026 season on Saturday night at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium in Oxford, Mississippi. The game kicks off at 6:45 p.m. CT and will be televised on ESPN2, according to university athletics.

This marks the first-ever meeting between the Rebels and the 49ers on the football field. Charlotte enters the matchup after losing in triple overtime to The Citadel in its season opener. Ole Miss comes into the game with a notable home winning streak, having won 12 straight home games and holding a 107-18-5 record in home openers all-time, the school said.

Ole Miss had a strong showing in its season opener, defeating Louisville 41-38. Wide receiver Deuce Alexander was named SEC Co-Offensive Player of the Week after recording five catches for 159 yards. Kicker Lucas Carneiro earned SEC Co-Special Teams Player of the Week honors for making two of three field goals, including a game-winner from 48 yards.

Carneiro has a history of clutch kicks, including three game-winning field goals over 45 yards in the final seconds of regulation. One of those was during the 2025 Sugar Bowl, which helped send Ole Miss to the College Football Playoff semifinals.

Following the win over Louisville, Ole Miss is the only team in the nation with a victory over a ranked opponent in the 2026 season. The Rebels have now defeated a Top 25 team in three of their last four games, according to the university.
