Ole Miss Men’s Golf Debuts at Inverness Intercollegiate
The Ole Miss men’s golf team, ranked No. 19 nationally, competed in its season opener at the Inverness Intercollegiate in Toledo, Ohio, according to university athletics. The tournament took place at the historic Inverness Club, which is set to host multiple major U.S. golf championships, including the 2027 U.S. Women’s Open.
The Rebels’ roster features five players, including seniors Cooper Claycomb and Collins Trolio, and sophomores Finn Meister, Eduardo Matarazzo, and freshman Tomas Restrepo. Claycomb, ranked 23rd in the PGA Tour University Rankings, and Trolio, who contributed significantly last season, lead the team into competition.
Monday’s and Tuesday’s rounds were partially broadcast on ESPN+, with live scoring available online. The tournament field includes teams such as Auburn, Clemson, LSU, Ohio State, and Vanderbilt. Ole Miss previously competed at the Knoxville Collegiate but is making its first appearance at Inverness.
Last season, the Rebels won their first SEC Championship since 1984 and finished the year ranked No. 9 nationally. Coach Chris Malloy was named SEC Coach of the Year and was a finalist for the Dave Williams Award. Ole Miss returns key contributors and adds new transfers and freshmen to bolster the team for the season.
