The University of Mississippi men’s golf team has announced the addition of five newcomers for the 2026-27 season. The roster includes three transfers and two freshmen as the Rebels aim to defend their SEC Championship.
Among the transfers is Cooper Claycomb, who spent three seasons at Louisville. He is ranked No. 120 in the World Amateur Golf Ranking and has earned multiple accolades, including two PING All-Region honors and All-ACC Academic recognition. Claycomb posted a stroke average of 72.18 over 34 rounds, with nine rounds of par or better and 18 rounds in the 60s.
Per Ekelund, a transfer from West Florida, brings championship experience, having helped lead the Argonauts to the 2025 Division II National Championship and three Gulf South Conference titles. He was also the 2024 GSC Men’s Individual Champion and holds a career stroke average of 70.90 across 99 rounds.
Eduardo Matarazzo joins the team after a successful freshman season at Barry University, where he was named Sunshine State Freshman of the Year. He posted a 70.80 stroke average over 27 rounds, with 14 rounds of par or better. Matarazzo recorded two Top 10 finishes and three Top five finishes during his debut season.
The class of freshmen includes Tomas Restrepo, ranked No. 144 in the World Amateur Golf Ranking. The Colombian native has won nine tournaments and finished in the top five 19 times, including back-to-back victories at the Toyota Junior Golf World Cup in Japan. He was named Colombia’s Youth Athlete of the Year for 2025.
Another freshman, Xander Mulder from Scottsdale, Arizona, helped lead Notre Dame Preparatory Academy to two state championships. He is ranked No. 202 in the American Junior Golf Rankings and has achieved multiple Top 10 and Top 25 finishes in AJGA and JGAA events.
The team will rely on a core of returning players, including Collins Trolio, Daniel Tolf, Finn Meister, and Jacob Blanton, as they look to build on their recent success and make a deep postseason run. The Rebels will also compete in several tournaments throughout the fall and spring seasons, continuing their pursuit of an SEC title and national prominence.
