Mississippi State’s Former Baseball Players Shine in Professional Leagues

Mississippi State University continues to boast a strong pipeline of baseball talent, with 51 former Bulldogs competing across professional leagues this year, including eight in Major League Baseball, according to sources familiar with the program.

Among the MLB players are All-Stars Adam Frazier, Brent Rooker, Jordan Westburg and Brandon Woodruff, as well as World Series champion Nathaniel Lowe. MSU has produced 72 Major League players, 13 All-Stars, seven World Series winners and 21 first-round draft picks, including Rooker, Westburg, Justin Foscue, Will Bednar, Landon Sims, Jurrangelo Cijntje and Ace Reese, per school records.

Foscue is currently batting .271 with the Texas Rangers, while Frazier has a .233 average with the Los Angeles Angels. Lowe, with the Cleveland Guardians, hit a pair of home runs in September. Other Bulldogs are making impacts in Triple-A, Double-A and Single-A levels, with several players recovering from injuries or undergoing surgeries.

Justin Foscue, now with the Rangers, is hitting .348 in September. Brent Rooker, with the Oakland Athletics, will miss the rest of the season after knee surgery. Jordan Westburg is sidelined with Tommy John surgery and will sit out the 2026 season. Meanwhile, Brandon Woodruff of the Milwaukee Brewers is on the injured list following shoulder surgery.
