Mississippi State Produces 51 Professional Baseball Players in 2026

Mississippi State University has produced 51 former baseball players competing professionally in 2026, including eight Major League Baseball players, according to a school release.

Among those in the majors are All-Stars Adam Frazier, Brent Rooker, Jordan Westburg and Brandon Woodruff, as well as World Series champion Nathaniel Lowe. The school has produced 72 Major Leaguers, 13 All-Stars, and seven World Series champions throughout its history. Additionally, 21 players were first-round draft picks, including Rooker, Westburg, Justin Foscue, Will Bednar, Landon Sims, Jurrangelo Cijntje and Ace Reese.

Current MLB players with MSU ties include Justin Foscue of the Texas Rangers, who sports a .270 batting average, and Adam Frazier of the Los Angeles Angels, who recently hit a two-run double. Nathaniel Lowe, with the Cleveland Guardians, has a .251 batting average and 17 home runs this season. Jake Mangum of the Pittsburgh Pirates recently hit a two-run homer, while Brent Rooker of the Oakland Athletics is sidelined after knee surgery.

Other former Bulldogs in MLB include Jordan Westburg of the Baltimore Orioles, who underwent Tommy John surgery and will miss this season, and Brandon Woodruff of the Milwaukee Brewers, sidelined with a shoulder injury. In Triple-A, Will Bednar of the Sacramento River Cats and Landon Sims of the Reno Aces continue to develop in the minors.

The school noted that several players are also active in Double-A and Single-A affiliates, with performances ranging across the minor league levels. MSU will provide weekly updates on these players’ progress on HailState.com.
