Mississippi State University has a rich history of producing professional baseball talent. In 2026, 42 former Bulldogs are playing professionally, including eight in Major League Baseball, according to school officials.
Among current MLB players are All-Stars Adam Frazier, Brent Rooker, Jordan Westburg, Brandon Woodruff, and World Series champion Nathaniel Lowe. MSU has produced 72 Major League players, 13 All-Stars, and seven World Series champions over its history. The program has also had 20 first-round draft picks, including Rooker, Westburg, Justin Foscue, Will Bednar, Landon Sims, and Jurrangelo Cijntje.
In the majors, Justin Foscue is with the Texas Rangers, batting .256 with four home runs. Adam Frazier, with the Los Angeles Angels, is on the injured list with elbow inflammation. Nathaniel Lowe of the Cincinnati Reds hit a double and scored a run in a game against the Yankees on June 20. Brent Rooker, currently on the injured list with the Oakland Athletics, has 10 home runs this season.
Other Bulldogs in the majors include Jake Mangum of the Pittsburgh Pirates, Jurrangelo Cijntje of the St. Louis Cardinals, and Brandon Woodruff of the Milwaukee Brewers, who returned from injury to pitch a near-perfect game on June 22. Several former Bulldogs are also competing in minor leagues across the country, with notable performances and some dealing with injuries.
