Mississippi State Looks to Continue Winning Streak at Minnesota

Mississippi State prepares for its first road game of the season Saturday against Minnesota, with kickoff scheduled for 2:30 p.m. CT. The game will be broadcast on CBS and streamed on Paramount+, with radio coverage available via the MSU Sports Network and SiriusXM, according to school officials.

The Bulldogs, entering with a 1-0 record after a record-setting season opener, showcased an explosive offense that scored on each of its first eight drives against ULM. Mississippi State finished with 762 total yards, the most in program history, and scored 41 points in the first half, just shy of a school record for points in a half.

Several players made notable debuts in Week 1. Freshman J.J. Hill scored two rushing touchdowns, including a 57-yard run, becoming the first Bulldog to do so in his debut since 2013. Zion Ragins also scored his first career touchdown. Hill was graded the highest among true freshmen, according to Pro Football Focus, with a grade of 95.8.

On defense, Trevion Williams recorded the team’s first sack of the season. Defensive lineman Jaray Bledsoe tied his career high with 1.5 tackles for loss, while Will Whitson returned from injury to contribute six tackles and half a tackle for loss.

MSU assistant coaches Phil Loadholt, Brandon Fusco, and Jon Cooper will return to Minnesota, where they previously played or coached. The game marks the first time since 1959 that an SEC team has competed in Minnesota, highlighting the significance of the matchup for both programs.
