Mississippi College Women’s Golf Sweeps GSC Weekly Awards
CLINTON, Miss. — Mississippi College women’s golf claimed the Gulf South Conference weekly awards, with Ashlynd Madden and Allie Myers earning honors, the conference announced Thursday.
Madden led the Choctaws to the team title at the Lee & Joe Duncan Invitational, winning individual medalist honors with a three-round total of 221 (+5). She opened with a 74, shot a tournament-best 67 (-5) in the second round, and finished with an 80 in the final round. Madden’s performance gave her a four-stroke victory over the field.
Myers, a freshman, finished tied for fourth with a three-round total of 229 (+13). She opened with a 77, improved to a 73 (+1) in the second round, and closed with a 79. Her efforts helped the team finish with a total score of 901 over three rounds, including a second-round score of 291. The Choctaws finished 56 strokes ahead of Christian Brothers, who placed second.
Mississippi College now shifts focus to the Gulf South Conference Tournament, scheduled for April 20-22 at GreyStone Golf Club in Dickson, Tennessee.
