Arkansas-Monticello Topples Mississippi College in Baseball, 10-3

Monticello, Ark. — Mississippi College’s baseball team collected eight hits but could not overcome a power surge from Arkansas-Monticello in a 10-3 loss Tuesday at Union Bank Park. The Choctaws (26-21) showed offensive potential with four doubles and multiple scoring opportunities, led by multi-hit efforts from Cade Gadman and Ty Murphy.

Gadman continued his strong stretch at the plate, with two hits including a double and a stolen base. Murphy also delivered two hits, a double, and an RBI for his second consecutive multi-hit game. Mississippi College found its rhythm in the middle innings, scoring three runs after being held scoreless through the first four frames.

The Choctaws scored first in the fifth inning when Creek Robertson crossed the plate on a ground out. Gadman later scored on an error, cutting UAM’s lead to within a run. In the sixth, JT Thigpen added a run on a wild pitch and contributed a double as part of MC’s extra-base hits. However, Arkansas-Monticello responded with three home runs to regain control.

The Boll Weevils (29-15, 23-7) scored five runs in the fifth inning, including a three-run homer, and added two more in the sixth to extend their lead. On the mound, Blake Gollott earned the win in relief, striking out four over four innings. Brady Ray added two strikeouts, and Carter Wells closed the game for the Choctaws.
