Miller Leads Ole Miss Women’s Golf at SEC Championship with Two-Day Record
BELLEAIR, Fla. — Mary Miller shot a 4-under 66 for the second straight round, leading Ole Miss women’s golf at the SEC Championship. The No. 21 Rebels posted a team score of 279, or 1 under par, in Saturday’s second round and are 4 under overall.
Miller, from Savannah, Georgia, stands alone at 8 under par with a two-shot lead over Texas A&M’s Vanessa Borovilos and Mississippi State’s Avery Weed. Her two-day total of 132 is the lowest in SEC Championship history, according to tournament officials.
Miller began her day on hole 10 and made the turn at even par. She then birdied three straight holes to start her second nine, adding two more birdies in the final stretch. After dropping a shot at the par-4 eighth, she finished with a par on the last hole.
The sophomore aims to become the second Ole Miss player in as many years to win the SEC individual title. Caitlyn Macnab claimed the championship last season, the program’s first. Sophie Linder shot 2 under 68 Saturday to reach 1 under for the tournament, while Matilda Björkman, Filippa Sundquist, and Kajsalotta Svarvar struggled in round two.
The top eight teams after stroke play will advance to the match play bracket. The final round of stroke play begins Sunday at 7:10 a.m. CT. Ole Miss continues to follow the tournament through live scoring and social media updates.
