Avery Weed Named First Team WGCA All-American

STARKVILLE, Miss. — Mississippi State junior Avery Weed has been named a First Team All-American by the Women’s Golf Coaches Association, the organization announced Tuesday. Weed, from Ocean Springs, Mississippi, made a significant impact in her third year with the Bulldogs.

During the season, Weed posted a 70.13 scoring average, the second-best single-season mark in program history. She claimed her third collegiate individual title at the Blessings Collegiate Invitational, finishing 14-under par. She was one of only two golfers to finish below par in the event and one of four to finish even or better, excluding the host team Arkansas.

Weed also shot par or better in 22 rounds this season, the second-highest total in MSU history, behind Julia Lopez Ramirez’s record of 25 in 2022-23. Additionally, 11 of her 22 par or better rounds came in the 60s, marking the third-most such rounds in a single season in school history.

Her accomplishments extend beyond the course. Weed earned First Team All-SEC honors and was selected for the Augusta National Women’s Amateur, the Curtis Cup, and the Arnold Palmer Cup, which begins play on July 5.
