Ole Miss Track & Field Athlete Patchnalie Compere Sets Second PR at Virginia Challenge

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — Ole Miss freshman Patchnalie Compere continues to make waves in her debut season. She broke her 200-meter personal record for the second straight week at the Virginia Challenge on Saturday, clocking in at 22.94 seconds in the invitational section. This time lowered her previous best and set a new Ole Miss freshman record, according to the university.

Compere’s performance also broke her own Haitian national record for the second time in as many weeks. She previously became the first runner from Haiti to break the 23-second barrier in the 200 meters. Her time ranks third in Ole Miss history and trails only McKenzie Long’s 21.83 seconds and Jayda Eckford’s 22.72 seconds among all freshmen, the school said.

In the men’s 200-meter invite, sophomore Jordan Urrutia ran a wind-assisted 20.37 seconds, the fastest by a Rebel since Olympian Isiah Young’s 2013 school record of 20.12. Senior Joshua Knox clocked a personal record of 21.05 seconds, and sophomore Tarique Wright finished in 21.39 seconds, also a personal best, according to Ole Miss.

Junior Sterling Scott recorded his best triple jump ever, leaping 16.43 meters (53 feet 11 inches) to finish second. That mark moved him to No. 4 all-time at Ole Miss, the university said. Other notable performances included freshman Ashton Hearn in discus (fourth, 56.73 meters) and redshirt freshman Indya Dotson in triple jump (14th, 12.11 meters).

Ole Miss will take a week off before returning to competition at the LSU Invitational on May 2, the school added.
