Five Mississippi State Track and Field Athletes Named to CSC Academic All-District Team
STARKVILLE, Miss. — Five Mississippi State track and field and cross country athletes have been named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District team, recognizing their performances both academically and athletically, according to school officials.
Gabrielle Boulay and Naomi Jepleting received the honor for the second straight year. To qualify, athletes must maintain at least a 3.50 GPA and finish in the top 50 regionally in cross country or track and field. Jepleting, a kinesiology major, finished 16th at the South Region Championships and earned All-Region honors last fall. Boulay, an accounting major, boasts a perfect 4.0 GPA and placed 45th at the same regional meet.
Three other athletes earned the award for the first time. Harry Ross-Hughes, a business management major, qualified for the NCAA East First Round and finished 17th in the 800-meter at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. Naomi Nel, a business management major with a 3.92 GPA, advanced to the NCAA East semifinals in the 400-meter hurdles. Marie Rougetet, a mathematics and criminology double major, won the SEC hammer throw title and finished third at the NCAA Championships in the same event. Rougetet is expected to be nominated for the CSC All-America team.
All five athletes competed at the NCAA level this season, with Ross-Hughes and Rougetet qualifying for outdoor championships.
