Mississippi State Tennis Players Earn Multiple 2026 CSC Academic All-District Honors

STARKVILLE — Multiple players from Mississippi State’s men’s and women’s tennis programs were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District teams, the organization announced Tuesday. The awards honor student-athletes for their combined academic and athletic excellence.

To qualify, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore, carry a minimum 3.50 GPA, and participate in at least 70% of their team’s matches. Graduate students need a 3.50 GPA in both undergraduate and graduate coursework. Regional competitions like ITAs and non-team events are excluded from eligibility.

On the men’s side, Petar Jovanovic, Mario Martinez Serrano, Benito Sanchez Martinez, and Niccolo Baroni were recognized. On the women’s team, Chiara Di Genova received the honor for the second consecutive year. Di Genova has a 3.79 GPA in finance and set career marks in singles and doubles wins. She also earned SEC and ITA academic honors and achieved a career-high doubles ranking of 11th with teammate Charlotte Kempenaers-Pocz.

Jovanovic, with a 3.94 GPA in finance, is a three-time honoree and earned All-America honors in singles and doubles. He became Mississippi State’s all-time wins leader with over 200 career victories. Martinez Serrano, with a 3.71 GPA, is a three-time honoree and earned second-team All-SEC honors after winning 20 singles matches this season. Sanchez Martinez, holding a 3.60 GPA, is a two-time honoree and was named SEC Player of the Year after compiling a 12-3 SEC record at No. 1 singles. Baroni, with a 3.93 GPA in kinesiology, earned second-team All-SEC honors and won 13 singles matches in dual play.

Honorees are considered for selection to the CSC Academic All-America team, which will be announced in early June. The men’s team will be announced June 3, and the women’s team on June 2. For updates, follow MSU Tennis on X and Instagram or visit HailState.com.
