Jovanovic and Sanchez Martinez Named Academic All-America by CSC
STARKVILLE — Mississippi State men’s tennis players Petar Jovanovic and Benito Sanchez Martinez have been named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America team, the organization announced Wednesday. Jovanovic was a first-team selection, becoming the first player in program history to earn multiple first-team honors.
This marks only the third time in program history that Mississippi State has had multiple players earn CSC Academic All-American honors in the same season. The school now has a total of 18 Academic All-American honors across CoSIDA and CSC, the third-most among all NCAA and NAIA divisions. Mississippi State’s 18 all-time honors also lead all Division I institutions, with Stanford and Texas tied for second at 12 honors each.
Jovanovic, a finance major with a 3.94 GPA, earned his second consecutive first-team recognition. He also received 2026 ITA All-America honors in singles and doubles and was named first-team All-SEC. Jovanovic is Mississippi State’s all-time wins leader with over 200 career wins in singles and doubles combined.
Sanchez Martinez, a business administration major with a 3.60 GPA, was named a second-team All-American. He earned ITA All-America honors in singles and doubles and was named SEC Player of the Year after going 12-3 in SEC singles matches, all at No. 1. He also secured seven doubles wins in conference play and received first-team All-SEC honors.
