Five William Carey Baseball Players Earn Academic All-District Honors
Five William Carey University baseball players have been named to the 2026 Academic All-District® Baseball Team, selected by College Sports Communicators (CSC), the school announced. The honorees are Will Carter, Campbell McCluney, Michael O’Neill, Chase Marshall, and Matthew Windham.
Marshall and Windham were also chosen to advance to the national ballot for the 2026 Academic All-American® Baseball Team, which will be announced June 23, according to the release. Both players excelled academically and athletically this season.
Carter, a senior business major, led the team with an earned run average of 3.48 across 41.1 innings as a reliever. He finished with an 8-0 record in 17 appearances and struck out 32 batters while issuing 11 walks, the school said.
McCluney, a senior kinesiology major, earned his second consecutive All-District® nod. The starting pitcher recorded a 3-3 record over 54.2 innings and led the team with 43 strikeouts in 14 appearances.
O’Neill, a junior transfer majoring in elementary education, played catcher in 33 of 40 games. He hit .217 with two doubles, four home runs, and 25 RBIs, and threw out 10 of 48 runners attempting to steal, the school reported.
Marshall, a junior transfer and communications major, played middle infield and was a first-team All-SLIAC and all-region selection. He posted a slash line of .379/.515/.621 in 38 games, with 50 hits, nine doubles, one triple, and seven home runs, driving in 38 runs and scoring 33.
Windham, a business major, was recognized for the third consecutive season and was an all-SLIAC selection. He started all 40 games, batting .337 with a .411 on-base percentage and a .528 slugging percentage. His 60 hits included 10 doubles, three triples, and six home runs, with 52 runs scored and 38 RBIs, the school said.
The CSC Academic All-District® Baseball Team honors student-athletes from NCAA Division I, II, III, and NAIA who excel both academically and athletically. To qualify, players must be at least sophomores with a minimum 3.50 GPA and participate in at least 90 percent of team games or start 66 percent of them.
