Ole Miss’ Keith Carter Named to NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Committee

OXFORD, Miss. — The NCAA announced Thursday that Ole Miss Vice Chancellor for Intercollegiate Athletics Keith Carter has been selected to serve on the Division I Men’s Basketball Committee. His term will last five years.

Carter is a former Rebel All-American basketball player and has held various roles at Ole Miss, including athletic director since 2019. Under his leadership, the university’s athletic department has experienced significant success, including two team national championships and record postseason results across multiple sports, according to NCAA sources.

Before becoming athletic director, Carter served as deputy athletic director for development and resource acquisition. He joined Ole Miss in 2009 and spent seven years as executive director of the Ole Miss Athletics Foundation. During that time, the foundation saw its highest donation years, and Carter received the Fundraiser of the Year Award from the National Association of Athletic Development Directors in 2016.

Carter’s basketball career at Ole Miss spanned four years, during which he helped lead the Rebels to two SEC Western Division titles in 1997 and 1998. An All-American as a senior in 1999, he ranks in the top 10 for career points at Ole Miss with 1,682, and earned all-conference honors in 1998 and 1999, NCAA records show.

The appointment highlights Carter’s prominence in college basketball, both as a player and administrator, NCAA officials said.
