Ole Miss Softball Adds All-ASUN Slugger Brie Howard as Transfer
The University of Mississippi softball team announced the addition of Brie Howard as a transfer for the upcoming season. Howard, a standout outfielder from Austin Peay, joins the Rebels with one year of eligibility remaining, according to an Ole Miss athletics news release.
Howard, a three-time All-ASUN selection and back-to-back first-team honoree, leaves Austin Peay as one of its top hitters and record-holders. She set school records last season with 20 home runs, 65 RBIs, and 52 runs scored while hitting .362 in 54 games. She also contributed nine doubles and a triple.
Throughout her career, Howard has hit 36 home runs and driven in 136 RBIs, maintaining a career batting average of .346. She ranks tied for third on Austin Peay’s all-time home run list and third in career RBIs. Howard’s impressive metrics placed her among the top hitters nationally last season, with NCAA top-40 rankings in home runs and RBIs.
Howard’s addition complements fellow transfer Lexie Hames as the Rebels prepare for the upcoming season. The team also welcomes 11 freshmen to the roster. Head coach Jamie Trachsel expressed enthusiasm about Howard’s impact, noting her as one of the program’s top sluggers.
Fans are encouraged to join Rebel Rewards, Ole Miss’s loyalty program, via the university’s mobile app, to earn points toward prizes. For more news and updates on Ole Miss softball, visit OleMissSports.com or follow the team on social media.
