Mississippi State’s Jacob Parker Named Freshman All-American by Baseball America
STARKVILLE, Miss. — Mississippi State’s Jacob Parker has been named to Baseball America’s first-team Freshman All-America team, the publication announced Thursday. The freshman outfielder has already received multiple honors this season, including Perfect Game’s Freshman of the Year and first-team All-America honors from that outlet and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.
Parker, a product of Purvis, Mississippi, set a freshman record with 18 home runs this season. He also posted a .339 batting average and drove in 62 RBIs. The outfielder appeared in 53 games, making 44 starts, and finished second on the team in homers and RBIs. He was third in batting average and stolen bases with seven.
He added 10 doubles and one triple during the season and was named the Most Outstanding Player during the Starkville Regional. Hunter Hines was the last Mississippi State player to earn Baseball America Freshman All-America honors, in 2022.
Mississippi State has had 87 players earn All-America honors a total of 180 times. Parker is currently in Cary, North Carolina, competing alongside teammates Jack Bauer, Ryan McPherson, and Tomas Valincius at USA Baseball’s National Collegiate Team Training Camp.
