STARKVILLE, Miss. — Mississippi State freshman outfielder Jacob Parker has been selected to D1Baseball’s Freshman All-America first team, further cementing his status as one of the top newcomers in college baseball this season, according to the organization.

Parker, a Purvis native, also received first-team All-America honors from Baseball America, the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association, and Perfect Game. Perfect Game named him its Freshman of the Year.

The 6-foot-3, 220-pound outfielder set a freshman school record with 18 home runs and posted a .339 batting average with 62 RBIs. He appeared in 53 games, starting 44, and finished second on the team in homers and RBIs. He also ranked third in batting average and stolen bases with seven. Parker added 10 doubles and a triple to his total and was named the Most Outstanding Player during the Starkville Regional.

Parker is currently competing in Cary, North Carolina, with Mississippi State teammates Jack Bauer, Ryan McPherson, and Tomas Valincius at USA Baseball’s National Collegiate Team Training Camp. The Bulldogs have the most participants of any college program in the camp.
