Crusaders Finish Second at SSAC Track and Field Championships
The Crusaders finished second with 185.5 points at the 2026 SSAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Gulf Shores, Alabama, according to the event organizers.
Barnabas Aggerh highlighted the meet with a victory in the 100 meters in 10.33 seconds. Dejean Francees added a third-place finish in 10.40 seconds. Jordyn Payne earned silver in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.50, while Jalin Brown placed fourth.
The Crusaders excelled in the 200 meters, with four athletes finishing among the top five. Session won gold in 20.80 seconds, with Aggerh taking bronze. Francees finished fourth in 21.62 seconds, and Quinjerus Miles was fifth. Jovel Madourie captured gold in the 400 meters, with Jer’Myiah Stuckey and Session finishing fourth and fifth, respectively. Brown added a third-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles, while Jaxson Farmer was fourth.
In middle-distance events, Santiago Vazquez finished fifth in the 800 meters with a time of 1:57.79, just ahead of Luke Skinner in sixth at 1:57.92. The two swapped places in the 1,500 meters, with Skinner finishing fifth in 4:02.34 and Vazquez sixth in 4:02.39. Matthew McGuire placed fifth in the 5,000 meters in 15:19 and sixth in the 10,000 meters with a time of 32:40.
The Crusaders also performed well in relay events. Francees, Aggerh, Miles, and Session won gold in the 4×100 relay in 40.97 seconds. The team of Moilanen, Beard, Vazquez, and Skinner finished fourth in the 4×800 in 8:16, and Farmer, Stuckey, Skinner, and Madourie earned silver in the 4×400 relay.
In field events, Avery Abram finished fifth in the high jump with a clearance of 1.95 meters. Charles Wilson posted a javelin mark of 37.58 meters. The Crusaders dominated the long jump, placing four athletes in the top five. Royan Walters won gold with a leap of 7.14 meters, while Abram (6.91m), Wilson (6.85m), and Romaine Lewis (6.79m) followed. Abram also claimed the triple jump title with a mark of 14.58 meters. Wilson earned silver at 13.68 meters, and Walters finished fifth.
The team will next compete at the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships, scheduled for May 20-22 in Asheville, North Carolina, according to organizers.
