The Millsaps College volleyball team is co-hosting its annual invitational with Belhaven University inside the Hangar Dome in Jackson, Mississippi. Fans are encouraged to fill the dome to support the Majors as they face four opponents over the weekend. Live stats will be available, and the matches will be streamed via FloCollege.
The Majors open play Friday with a match against Centenary College at 4 p.m., followed by a game against Principia College at 6 p.m. On Saturday, Millsaps will face LeTourneau University at 10 a.m. and Huntingdon College at 4 p.m., concluding the invitational.
Millsaps enters the tournament with a 3-2 record. The team swept Belhaven 3-0 in their season opener on Sept. 1. Last weekend, the Majors defeated Alverno College 3-1 and Texas Lutheran University 3-0 at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Tournament. Freshman Khloe Duncan leads the team with 61 kills and 161 attacks, while sophomore Madelynn Sasser has 41 kills and 12 digs, according to team stats.
Belhaven University, which hosts the event, has a roster highlighted by sophomore Tarryn Woodall, who was named C Spire Athlete of the Week. Woodall has 63 kills, 41 digs, and three blocks in five starts this season. Maggie Joy Tomlin, also a sophomore, was named the Collegiate Conference of the South Setter of the Week on Sept. 8. She has 132 assists, along with 45 digs and five kills.
Other teams include Centenary College, led by freshman Danielle Primavera with 14 kills; Huntingdon College, which secured its first win of the season on Sept. 5; LeTourneau University, with standout junior Ashlyn Walther and sophomore Hailee Perry; Oglethorpe University, entering the invitational with a 2-2 record; and Principia College, led by freshman Kaleigh Klouzek.
