Northwest Mississippi Women’s Soccer Dominates with 17-0 Win over National Park

The Northwest Mississippi Community College women’s soccer team extended its undefeated streak with a 17-0 victory over National Park College at the Ranger Soccer Complex in Senatobia. The Rangers improved to 5-0 this season, while National Park dropped to 0-3.

Northwest wasted no time, scoring just 48 seconds into the game when freshman Sunshine Little converted Melanie Holt’s cross. Little added her second goal 18 seconds later from six yards out. Holt then finished Iriko Rakotoarimanana’s pass to make it 3-0 within the first five minutes.

Joline Knevel added to the lead with a goal after assisting Holt. Maggie Pace scored 27 seconds later, followed by Rakotoarimanana heading home Holt’s pass. Holt scored her second goal of the game from 18 yards out just 10 seconds after Rakotoarimanana’s goal.

Ella King scored her first goal in the 16th minute, finishing Pace’s cross. She then scored her second with a headed finish from Knevel’s cross in the 31st minute. Rakotoarimanana completed her brace with a finish from Little’s cross in the 38th minute. Knevel capped the first-half scoring with her second goal, assisted by Kami Vega, just before halftime.

After halftime, the offensive onslaught continued. Sophomore Emma Demassey scored in the 47th minute after a pass from Pace. Lara Stevens headed home Demassey’s cross in the 52nd minute. Olivia Miller added her goal in the 55th minute from freshman Hayden Moneymaker’s cross. McKenzi Rankins scored in the 57th minute off Demassey’s pass, and Stevens found the net again in the 67th minute from Demassey’s cross. The final goal came from Moneymaker, who capitalized on a one-on-one opportunity with the goalkeeper.

Northwest is scheduled to host Copiah-Lincoln Community College on Tuesday, September 15, at 5 p.m. for their MACCC opener. Fans can follow the team’s updates on social media or at nwccrangers.com.
