Women’s and Men’s Track & Field Teams Finish Third at SLIAC Championships
The William Carey University women’s and men’s track and field teams both finished third at the 2026 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) Outdoor Championships at Greenville University, according to school officials.
The Owls combined for 17 medals and set seven school records during the two-day meet. Ariella Jones earned recognition as the SLIAC Field Events Freshman of the Year, while Cassidy Talley and Kobe Smith were named to the SLIAC All-Sportsmanship Team for women and men, respectively.
The women’s team secured nine medals, including a gold medal from Cassidy Talley in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:09.58. Talley also earned silver medals in the 4×100 and 4×400 relay events. Armoni King ran on both relay teams and finished second in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.63 seconds. King also took bronze in the 200 meters in 26.37 seconds.
Hannah Owens set a school record in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 41:20.00, finishing fourth. She also placed fourth in the 5,000 meters in 20:37.46. In field events, Brooklyn Kelley was second in the shot put at 11.21 meters, and Arie’Onna McCollum took third with a throw of 11.11 meters. McCollum also earned a silver in discus with a throw of 35.03 meters. Jones finished third in triple jump at 10.70 meters and fourth in long jump. She also anchored the 4×100 relay team.
Relay medals also went to CeCe Cowan in the 4×100, with Sacaria Wofford and Kamiyah Whiting on the 4×400 relay squad. On the men’s side, the Owls earned two gold medals. Tyler Bohannon set a meet record in the high jump at 2.01 meters (6 feet, 7 inches), while Malachi Morgan cleared the same height but earned silver based on misses. Morgan also finished second in the long jump at 7.00 meters and led off the 4×100 relay team.
In the 110-meter high hurdles, Mikendall Morris set a school record with a winning time of 15.50 seconds. Allen Fields finished second in 15.60 seconds. Noel Kellum won bronze in discus with a throw of 42.04 meters and contributed to the 4×100 and 4×400 relays, earning silver and bronze medals, respectively. Smith finished sixth in the 100-meter dash with a school-record time of 10.79 seconds. The men’s team also set records in the javelin and hammer throw, with Nicholas Martin throwing 47.32 meters in javelin and James Nesby breaking the hammer throw school record with a best effort of 38.30 meters.
