CLINTON, Miss. — No. 10 Mississippi Christian University men’s soccer returns home Sunday for its 2026 season debut at Robert P. Longabaugh Field, hosting Saint Leo University in a non-conference match. Kickoff is set for 11 a.m. CT.
The Choctaws are 0-1 after a 3-2 loss at No. 8 Lynn on Thursday. Mississippi Christian led 1-0 and 2-1 before Lynn scored the game-winner in the 87th minute. Sophomore Karim Gegg opened the scoring in the seventh minute with help from Patrick Vukoje and freshman Lian Feridani. Harry McLean, a freshman, scored his first collegiate goal in the 61st minute to give the Choctaws a 2-1 lead.
Mississippi Christian registered 12 shots with five on target against Lynn, showing attacking pressure despite the narrow defeat. The team aims to build on its offensive effort and secure its first win of the season.
Saint Leo also seeks its first victory after falling 2-0 at Auburn Montgomery on Thursday. The Lions produced 13 shots and five on goal in that game, with eight corner kicks. Junior goalkeeper Vincent Fournier made two saves. Luis Gaitan led Saint Leo offensively with three shots, two on target, while Alejo Tangredi, Christian Getsos, and Virgilio Escala each added two attempts.
AUM scored in the 38th minute and added another in the second half. Saint Leo created multiple chances after halftime but was unable to find the net. Both teams look to rebound after season-opening road losses.
Following Sunday’s game, Mississippi Christian will stay home to face Eckerd College on Friday, Sept. 4, at 3:30 p.m. CT.
