Mississippi Christian Men’s Soccer Tops Eckerd 3-0 Behind McLean’s Second-Half Goals

CLINTON, Miss. — Mississippi Christian men’s soccer secured its first win of the 2026 season with a 3-0 victory over Eckerd on Friday night at Robinson-Hale Stadium.

The match was originally scheduled for 4 p.m. at Robert P. Longabaugh Field but was postponed just 35 seconds after kickoff due to a lightning delay. Play resumed at 7 p.m. at the alternative location.

Once underway, the Choctaws dominated, controlling the match with a 14-6 shot advantage and nine shots on goal. Eckerd managed only two shots on target throughout the game. Mississippi Christian kept the Tritons without a shot in the first half and created the only two shots on goal during that period. Santiago Dominguez made two saves to preserve the shutout.

The game remained scoreless until the 58th minute, when Harry McLean finished a pass from Hayden Mulrooney to give Mississippi Christian a 1-0 lead. McLean struck again in the 67th minute, assisted by Mulrooney, to extend the lead to 2-0. Karim Gegg added an insurance goal in the 84th minute, unassisted, sealing the win.

Gegg and McLean each had four shots, with McLean putting three on target. Mulrooney contributed two assists off the bench. Dominguez played all 90 minutes and registered two saves. The victory improves Mississippi Christian’s record to 1-1-1, while Eckerd falls to 1-2-0.

The team returns to Robert P. Longabaugh Field on Sunday to host Florida Southern College at 11 a.m., according to school officials.
