Clinton, Miss. — Mississippi Christian’s men’s soccer team will try to earn its first victory of the 2026 season when it hosts Eckerd on Friday at 4 p.m. CT at Robert P. Longabaugh Field. The Choctaws enter the game with a 0-1-1 record after opening the season with a 3-2 loss to No. 8 Lynn and a 1-1 draw against Saint Leo, according to school officials.
Mississippi Christian showed resilience in its season opener against Saint Leo, falling behind early but rallying for a 1-1 draw. Brandon Reyes scored in the 80th minute, assisted by Patton Francis, to secure the equalizer. Both teams finished with 12 shots and seven corner kicks each, with the Choctaws putting five shots on goal compared to two for Saint Leo. Reyes’ goal marked the team’s first at home this season, providing momentum heading into Friday’s matchup.
Eckerd enters the match with a 1-1 record after splitting its first two games. The Tritons opened with a 3-2 victory over Middle Georgia State, with goals from Tatum Fain, Sebastian Schmalbach, and Pharrell Williams. They recorded 10 shots in that game and received four saves from goalkeeper Trent Murphy. Their next game resulted in a 1-0 loss to Barton, despite four second-half shots and five saves from Murphy.
This will be the first meeting of the season between Mississippi Christian and Eckerd. Both teams are looking to build early momentum in their schedules. The match will be played Friday at Longabaugh Field in Clinton, Mississippi.
