Clinton, Miss. — Mississippi College and Christian Brothers finished in a 2-2 tie Wednesday at Robert P. Longabaugh Field in Gulf South Conference men’s soccer play.
The Choctaws scored once in each half, with Brody Tanner opening the scoring in the 13th minute. Tanner’s goal was assisted by Karim Gegg and Luke Nolan. Mississippi College maintained pressure throughout the first half, with goalkeeper Elliot Duffy making two saves to keep the match level.
In the 68th minute, Lian Feridani extended the lead for the Choctaws with his only shot of the game. Christian Brothers responded quickly, cutting the deficit to 2-1 in the 70th minute on Twan Roeling’s goal. The Bucs continued to press, with Marco Manuali scoring the equalizer in the 90th minute. Neither team scored in the final moments, resulting in a draw.
Mississippi College outshot Christian Brothers 12-8 and earned six corner kicks in the second half. Gegg led the Choctaws with three shots, and Nolan added two shots and an assist. Duffy finished with three saves in goal. Tanner and Feridani scored their first goals of the season, while Gegg and Nolan each had an assist.
The result moves Mississippi College to 2-3-2 overall and 1-1-1 in conference play. Christian Brothers is now 3-4-2 overall and 1-1-2 in GSC action. The Choctaws will next face Lee University on Saturday in Cleveland, Tennessee.
