Ole Miss Men’s Tennis Secures 32nd NCAA Tournament Bid
The University of Mississippi men’s tennis team has qualified for the NCAA Championships for the 32nd time in program history, the school announced Monday during the NCAA Selection Show.
The No. 28 Rebels will compete in the Tucson Regional as the No. 2 seed. They are set to face No. 3 seed Clemson (16-12, 8-5 ACC) on May 1 at 12 p.m. in Tucson, Arizona.
If Ole Miss wins its opening match, it will advance to face the winner of the regional’s host team, Arizona (21-4, 8-0 Big 12), and Northern Arizona (18-5, 7-0 Big Sky) on May 2 for a chance to move on to the Super Regionals.
The team finished the season with a 19-9 record overall and a 6-8 mark in Southeastern Conference play. They also recorded six wins against teams ranked in the ITA Top 75.
This marks head coach Jake Jacoby’s first NCAA tournament appearance as the Rebels’ coach and the 30th tournament bid in the past 32 seasons for Ole Miss. The team’s previous postseason runs include multiple deep runs in the NCAA tournament, with this year’s appearance adding to their storied history.
Live video and stats will be available on Ole Miss’ athletics website at a later date. Fans can follow the team on social media via @OleMissMTennis on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. Coach Jacoby can be followed at @JakeJacoby.
